Have you ever wondered How did Hatha Yoga begin and why? How old is it? We will explore the how, when, where, and why of Hatha Yoga and its early Tantric and Ascetic Sampradaya Roots including an overview of the most famous Hatha Yoga teachers and writings. We explore in what ways Tantra influenced present day Hatha Yoga Practice.
Next we will trace how the various streams of Hatha Yoga that came to the West during the last 120 years.

You will find out about the various types of yoga and yoga traditions. You will be surprised at the many fluid and early connections. What postures came from where? We will touch on Mysore, Bengali, Kashmir, Ascetic, Tantric, and Nath roots. You will leave the Workshop with a sense of History and Connection to your own present Hatha Yoga Practice.

This shortened express version of the 90 min Bikram Style 26/2 ( Twenty Six Postures and 2 Pranyama breathing exercises ) makes the most of the timing using flow sequences to get 2 sets of important postures into the class such as Half Moon Sequence, Much of the Standing Postures, and Most of the Floor postures. There is still a 2 minute Savasana between Standing and Floor Postures.

After attempting many versions of a shortened 60 min class, this hits all the high points and gives a great Hatha Yoga Session.view morePlay

Sun Morning Yoga is On!

Low Carb Keto Sandwich Rolls similar to the Discontinued Joseph’s Sandwich Thins

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 scant teaspoon honey
  • 2-3 teaspoons yeast
  • 2 eggs room temperature large eggs
  • Pinch himalayan salt
  • 2/3 cup golden flax meal
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1 1/4 cup vital wheat gluten
  • 2 Tablespoons butter melted

Instructions

  • Mix honey and yeast into water and cover with cling film and a silicone mat and leave in a warm place until yeast activates. This can take 20-40 minutes.

What I did

  • Add all ingredients to mixer, including activated yeast. Using dough hook attachment knead dough for minimum 5 minutes (dough will be smooth, soft and supple and not wet) I added addition Oat and Vital Wheat Flours to stiffen it up at end ( not sure
  • Pat individual flat breads into cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and sprayed with coconut oil. Place warm place for approximately 1/2 hour until slightly risen
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Makes 10-12 flat breads, poke with fork while rising.
  • Bake about 20-25 min. Cool on wire

Copycat Joseph’s Sandwich Thins. These 6 carb a piece Sandwich Rolls were DISCONTINUED in 2019. They were my saving grace for my low carb lifestyle. Recently I tried my hand at replicating them using Vital Wheat Gluten ( gives it the cheery texture like bread without carbs), Oat Flour and Ground Yellow Flax Meal. These are a homemade version but actually pretty good.

The dough came our a bit wet so I did add additional Oat Flour and Vital Wheat Gluten to stiffen it up at the end to be more like a bread dough. I only let them rise 1/2 hour because I wanted the flat bread thing but you could let them rise longer for rolls or make a loaf of bread out of it. I bought Bob’s Red Mill variety of these flours at Demoulas Market Basket. You have to use a sweetener to activate yeast so I used a scant teaspoon honey. Pretty much, the carbs in the honey are eaten up by the yeast in proofing. I figure, off hand, these babies are similar in carb content to the Commercial Joseph’s product ( 6 carbs) that was discontinued. The upper left hand of this photo montage shows the original package. Company still makes wraps and Pita breads but I don’t love them as much. I tried to love them but I don’t, so this is what drove me to experiment with this recipe.
